last Saturday night … party.

There was a guy avoiding the party with Timo. Who was he? He introduced himself (twice, I think actually) and I can’t remember his name.

but that is not the question… the question is why does he look so damn familiar? Would I know him from somewhere or was it the punch? It could very well be the punch since that is probably the reason why I can’t remember his name. I can just remember thinking… I know him, don’t I? and then promptly went back to not feeling my nose.

damn insightful friends

Life is interesting

I had 2 friends tell me today that I seem to be enjoying the SCA more than I was. Which was a bit odd because:

1 - I hadnt really realized that I wasnt enjoying the SCA completely.
and 2 They were right. I am enjoying myself more.

I am making more and more friends every time I turn around. I am finally finding my niche, and am learning to balance/combine my service and my fun. Its funny how your friends can sometimes see things you are blind to.

Hell I even have projects I want to work on!

My priority will hopefully be my royal historian project, but that will depend on who wins Crown this weekend, and if they are willing to have someone document the reign.

But I also have my encampment I want to focus on and make it a place - people outside my circle want to camp. I need to make camp walls hmmm purple.

I have the Scroll that I am greatly enjoying. People have asked if I plan on doing the Blackstar in the future, and I think I may be interested (but not anytime soon). I really need to learn more about the production of it. To see just what is required.

I have the Hospitalers office, while I am not enjoying it as much as the Chroniclers office I get great pleasure in seeing my newcomers prosper. It has been a learning process for me as well. I feel that I have grown a bit from the situations the office has created.

I really have met a lot of interesting people. I take a look at my friends and I shake my head in wonder. How did I meet so many different people? And how is it that they all are at least cordial to all the others?

Wonders never cease to amaze

Im going to be tested this weekend, but Colete has promised to keep me strong. Seeing as how I am a weak-willed female I need all the help I can get. :P

why must we label everything? what are we? fascists?

you know how when you work at a computer all day, and you’re just, like, so absorbed with everything that you forget to blink until your eyeballs are totally all dried out and then when you close your eyes, they burn! oh how they burn! Is that good?

but i didn’t just work my ass off today. i also discovered that if you eat a whole lot of altoids all at once, it feels very similar to ice-cream headache, except your nostrils burn at the same time.

eeeenteresting.

am i in the habit of inventing imaginary boys or something?

i was speaking with a friend late this afternoon, and i made mention of the boy.

and she said “who?”

“you know, the boy,” i said.

and she says “oh, you mean he’s real?”

note to self: analyze friendships

photos are done… and i am going off duty now. many imporant things to do and see tonight. see you tomorrow…

well damn… I’m here.

It took me 3 hours 35 minutes (there was construction), but there was a warm feather bed ready and waiting for me when I arrived at the hotel. It is amazing the turn around at this hotel since I had a talk with the manager. I hope everyone gets this treatment, but somehow I doubt it. I got one of the luxury suites, and breakfast big enough for 6 was delivered this morning courtesy of the management office.

Greg says people have been on pins and needles since Wednesday about the meeting today. Apparently I have a rep for firing people who have major fuck ups in their records. People are stressed about losing their jobs. This is a good thing, because after I rip them a new one… they’ll thank me. And we won’t ever have to have the “you fucked up big” meeting again.

The boy is mad. He even yelled at me. He just can’t comprehend how I can drive a car, while doing something to occupy my mind. Like reading a book, watching DVD’s, or surfing the internet. I even got a lecture. Something about just because you can doesn’t mean you should. Wow, he even used the “father” voice. I didn’t think you got that until kids came along. I guess I have some making up to do…. darn.

Time to get to SA: 3 hours 35 minutes
Highest speed: :P you really don’t want to know.
Number of cops that pulled me over: 2
Number of cops shocked it was a female driving that fast: 2
Number of cops who couldn’t look me in the eye after openly staring at my chest: 1
Number of tickets: 0 (from here on out I wear a cote on every road trip)

I have been told I must reorganize the Sabine business structure To make room for new minions.

Will ponder further while on the road to San Antonio.

How many times have I said I will never make this drive again?

Oh and I broke my promise to the boy this is Sabine Blogging and Driving.

At least I am behind a big Dodge perfectly willing to let the little Beetle trail behind him.

Goal: beat fastest time to San Antonio (3 hours 15 minutes)
Current speed: Cruise Control set at 106. love the beetle.

ummm like did you see philip at court on saturday night? he was like in his underwear, passing out jell-o shots, and getting trashed. and then they like called him up in court to announce his elevation to laurel. and he walked into court and didnt even have the decency to blush about getting caught without his pants.

and then later on after feast he showed up at this party shirtless and wearing sari pants (that he quickly stripped off) and then these women oiled him up and he wrestled other men wearing only his boxers.

is that proper behavior for a peer?

and dont even get me started on what he was doing with that jell-o during the day. something about an extended nap time

love you, phil excuse me master tighty whitey i mean master white. yeah thats the one.

Apparently my bribe pay off has been moved up…

I regret to inform everyone that was expecting me at either Battle of the Pines or Western Sentinel, I won’t be there.

Sarah is kidnapping me, and forcing me to another kingdom. I am told it will be worth it, though.

If you have any questions, complaints, concerns for my well-being, please see Sarah - she is running the complaint department on this one. Although I will warn you, she is Satan … and capable of all sorts of painful things.

Damn I make damn good punch,

Filed under: Limbo — Sabine at 6:25 pm on Sunday, September 26, 2004

and I think that everyone who was at feast now knows it.

How did I do it? I really dont know how I made it thru this weekend yet alone pulled off a fucking fantabulous weekend. I threw a party in which men stripped off their shirts, let us oil them down, and then (!) they threw each other around on a well oiled tarp for our entertainment. I didnt think they would do it I was wrong! And it was great, I already have people asking me if we get to do it next year. Sir Kief has also explained to me how to do a proper wrestling mat (what do I know? Im a girl)

So lets see:

Thursday got onsite and setup (all by myself, thank you very much) then I was lazy until about noon on Friday.

Friday lazy then went to buy supplies for waterbearing. Started to get things set-up and then people started to show. Dealt with newcomers (Have I mentioned I have kick ass newcomers?) Did a tour of site. Socialized a bit. Philip and I decided we could not share a bed, so he left for Elins and I went to bed.

Saturday wake up early to setup waterbearing. Which went ultra smooth. Weather was great. People were happy. Watermelon was a huge hit. Tore down waterbearing after the tourneys were over. Got ready for court and feast. Court was great. It was special to have so many friends receive awards. And 5 elevations wow. Our peerage population just skyrocketed.

Saturday Night was beyond explanation. With so few people onsite and soo many activities happening, I thought this was going to end up being a small group of friends getting completely toasty on damn good punch and jell-o shots. I was wrong. The men had fun wrestling and the women had fun oiling the men. We did miss the Rhoadd boys they could have made the party special. Well that and it would have been nice if Timo hadnt of chickened out. Then there was this guy who was quite handsome with wonderful eyes, but then he said he was a preacher (and a radical one at that theres always something wrong with them)

Sunday blah blah blah… Wheres my damn button? My button is faulty and its time to find a new one. And apparently the sit and stare at my tent till it falls down and packs itself method wasnt working for me too well either. And why is it when people cant find Cabana Boy they come asking me? Its not after 9:00 PM, I have no responsibility for him. Go ask Daire.

Poor Loch so abused Poor Loch woe is him.

Lessons learned:

1. Beetle has an amazing ability to always be able to fit just one more thing in its hatch.
2. Heading out to site a day early good
3. Its official Sabine cannot go to a Canton event without visiting Wal-mart at least twice.
4. Oranges are out of season.
5. Employees of the said local Wal-mart may think I am a freak due to a purchase of 6 large bottles of baby oil and a tarp.
6. Did I mention that I make damn good punch?
7. Contrary to popular belief, I was not selling Jell-o Shots to newcomers. I did not even bring Jell-o shots onsite. Yes, my friends apparently someone was aiming to get me in trouble so they made up some story about me selling Jell-o shots to the newcomers in the newcomers encampment. Needless to say they failed miserably, but we have all had a good laugh over it twice.
8. Men will do just about anything if it means 5 women will rub him down with baby oil.
9. Friends are mean They decided (without my approval) that I need yet another nickname to add to the growing collection. So they decided to name me after a woman in a movie I have never seen from a series I have never seen. Mean.

small flaw in plan

there will be no pool… this weekend.

Last night was too cold for a pool, so suffice it to say the next 2 nights will be the same.
Tomorrow we will be to busy to use it.
Sunday we will be tearing down and not having the lazy day like gothic.
I did not buy a new filter for it.
and we have a hole…. that I can’t repair onsite.

This is the destiny’s way of telling me there should be no pool… or that I should be at Diamond Wars meeting my true love…

either way there will be no pool… but I still have the baby oil. and punch….

I love Lochlan

Filed under: Limbo — Sabine at 2:16 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2004

Last time Sabine had to drag out her feast gear (Winter Wonders), they had this sheriff who went around arresting people of your choice. Well I had Lochlan arrested, and to get “released” he cleaned my feastgear! The feastgear I was dreading, because I had forgotten about it? Clean! Sparkling! Yay! Lochlan is my favorite!

Things left to do:

1- bath (CHECK - I’m clean!)
2- finish loading car (CHECK - the beetle is stuffed to da brim)
3- bank (on my way)
4- liquor store
5- Rixs house

Goal - be on the road by 6:00 PM (or earlier!)

leaving now…

and just because….

Done with work till Tuesday!! Of course I have to be in San Antonio on Tuesday, but we won’t dwell on that.

My mood has been lifted to amazing heights since walking out of my office.

Things left to do:

1- bath
2- finish loading car
3- bank
4- liquor store
5- Rix’s house

Goal - be on the road by 6:00 PM

and since I am in that damn good of a mood, I will leave you with this nickelback moment:

I’m through thinking of things to say to you
It’s true, I’ve said enough and so have you
Just drive, you slam the door and so do I
Tongue tied from all the little things
And they’re the reason that I scream

I needed you
Probably as bad as I need another hole in the head
Cause I needed you
Car keys in your hand I believe that you would leave me for dead
Cause I needed you
Probably as bad as I need another hole in the head

Have I mentioned lately that I yeah I think I have ..

Look for me online tonight since I will be onsite with only a Cabana Boy and my internet connection to keep me company.

And if you need to check your email onsite this weekend come find me. $1.00 a minute

Time to go get naked (please refer to #1 on the list above)

pardon the interruption

So remember back in June when Sarah gave me some purple fabric from Larissa?

Remember how a certain someone (not naming any names, but she has been known in the past to be a bit of a fabric snob and she just possibly could be the current Elfsea Seneschal but I am not going to give her name cause that would be gossiping a practice I leave to Philip.) thought it was hideous and would not let me make anything out of it?

Well tonight I found a purpose for it. I am going to make a rug out of it for the bottom of my tent. Since I drive a beetle I cant have standard rugs (not enough room), so I plan to back this fabric with some heavyweight canvas and tassel the corners and wa-la I have a rug that even a fabric snob will love. Hehe I may just be a Laurel yet.

Loaner gear is loaded pool is loaded (I love my Cabana Boy). My car is almost loaded. Few more loads of Laundry. I plan to be ready tonight. Except for feast gear, it needs to be washed and I forgot that the dishwasher broke back in January and I never got it fixed (oh like I ever have a need to use it). So it looks like I am handwashing everything or sneaking over to Rixs to use theirs. Ho-hum.

This is going to be a busy weekend. I am pretty sure that I am going to head out tomorrow night instead of waiting till Friday. I will be happier if I set up at night then Friday I can clean the pool on site (it needs it) and after the hell that was today I need to get away. Even if it is just to camp an extra night. Not that I will be roughing it in anyway. I mean, I am taking my air conditioner, my laptop, new sheets, my garment rack (with extra hangers so I hang up some of the loaner gear), chairs and table.

brb time to switch laundry.

Does anyone else lose clothes like I do? I have a horrible habit of misplacing clothing and then finding it months later in my pantry or something equally strange (like Sarahs) I think I must do it in my sleep.

On that note

Sabine - now in search of man to marry… so she can have cool bachelorette party.

turkish love nest

Filed under: Limbo — Sabine at 1:57 pm on Tuesday, September 21, 2004

So yesterday afternoon I got on a tear to do something about my camping environment. Anything. So I worked on what I could fix and have immediate gratification with. So I began work on the interior of my tent. This, of course, stems from the fact that I now have an air mattress that I love.

So I came to a few conclusions:

1 no new tent for Sabine till absolutely necessary. (note to self: get Cabana Boys help in changing out busted pole sections) I like my tent it is a good size for me. I want to keep my tent, just without the holes.

2 time to rearrange in the inside of the tent anyway. Bed will now go in the main room. With one side being changing area/Storage and the other being sitting area.

3 - I need to do something that I think is cool, but something that I know that if I looked at everyday I would just end up annoyed.

So I bought a mosquito net. And a metric shit load of new sheets ( 5 sets and counting). And rugs (rag rugs but they fold easily and fit in the beetle). As Rixende said Im building myself a Turkish love nest!

Next month I plan on adding lanterns and a sari quilt.

I figure by 3 Kings, it can be finished. You have to come by for a tour. Anybody have any ideas what else I can add?
